The Cottonwood Hotel 1922 circa is one of America's small historic hotel's. It is Cottonwood, Arizona's oldest hotel and provides the most history in the Old Town area. Its western toltec architecture was a popular design during the turn of the 19th century, along with the ornate tin ceiling in the office and hardwood floors throughout most of the building.
The hotel sits amongst a unique array of popular restaurants, eclectic shops, galleries, an athletic club, and more. It is within walking distance to hiking trails, birding, biking, horseback riding and more, as the small town borders a rare riparian habitat, part of the Verde River Greenway, and the Dead Horse Ranch State Park.
Specialty Lodging Accommodations A unique alternative to traditional hotel lodging
Proud to be clean, green & comfortable, the updated historic Cottonwood Hotel's unique boutique rooms are all studio suites & apartments/flats, with original hardwood floors, equipped kitchen or kitchenette, secure ethernet/wireless, direct tv channels and more.

This limited service hotel caters to travelers seeking a longer extended stay, vacation rental or weekly rates. Nightly specials are available from time to time but limited. The Cottonwood Hotel's balcony is a favorite place for that morning cup of coffee or tea and an evening cocktail. It has the best view overlooking the small western Old Town district. This three block commerce area borders a rare greenway habitat with the Verde River running through it, adjacent to the Dead Horse Ranch State Park. Located on historic 89a, revived Main Street, this is the city of Cottonwood's only downtown area and it is just minutes from Sedona attractions. From the balcony, the red mountain range view on the horizon to the north east is Sedona.
REVIEWS from Jerseyacqua:
"We spent a good deal of time on the second-story porch which overlooks Main Street, giving us an even more expanded view than our front picture window. Besides sunrises, sunsets, and storms, we could watch, and even say hello to, people passing by on the street below. From there, we planned our walking excursions around the town and surrounding areas, like Dead Horse Ranch State Park". To see more reviews or the rest of this one CLICK HERE.

“My Home Away from Home”
13 Apr 2009 ~ Cindy013 ~Yelm, Washington
The Cottonwood Hotel has become my “home away from home” during my extended stays in Cottonwood. It’s perfect for me because I’m a single traveling business woman. The price is AMAZING considering its prime location in the Verde Valley. Nestled between beautiful Sedona and Jerome, it is centrally located and just a few steps from the local Athletic Club, within walking distance to the hospital, city and state parks, hiking trails, popular restaurants, bakeries, cafés, galleries, antique shops, in a diverse and eclectic western town. The hotel is small with a half dozen charming suites that are updated & clean and the furnished kitchen/kitchenette suit my needs for a cozy atmosphere while I’m traveling. For over a decade, Karen, the owner and her partner Gregory have kept this well kept secret alive which has been providing a valuable connection to us visitors and passer’s by. Karen’s knowledge of the history and the present day services of this town have helped me develop an intimate relationship with Cottonwood. The historic hotel is not your typical boring place to stay, as you get your own apartment suite instead of a stale, cheap motel room. I enjoy having the SECURE high speed internet, laundry facilities, assigned parking and ( my favorite thing) after a drink at the local tavern it's a short walk “home” where I sit on the common balcony overlooking Main Street and unwind, contemplate the day and enjoy the beautiful night sky. When I’m asked where I’m staying, I’m surprised that many locals aren’t even aware of this overlooked treasure that is right in their own back yard!
" I need to secure my reservation for this hidden gem for years to come..."
3 Thumbs Up!!!! Trigger341 ~Albuquerque ~ 11 May 2009
I recently had the privilige of spending 3 days and 2 nights in the Historic Cottonwood Hotel in the heart of old town Cottonwood, AZ. From my first conversation with Karen...to my check-out... she was a pleasure to deal with. This landmark hotel is a step back in time, wood floors, clawfoot tub, antique fixtures and furnishings. Memories of days gone by abound throughout the hotel. The rates were great, the accomidations were a breath of fresh air.....I almost forgot the breath taking view from the community balcony where you can enjoy the sites and sounds of historic downtown Cottonwood....

There are several popular Restaurants & Cafes on North Main Street in historic Old Town Cottonwood within walking distance, just steps form the Cottonwood Hotel. Choices are Organic, Italian, Thia, Bar-B-Q, Mexican, American, Gourmet Coffee Shops, a bakery, a tavern grill, and a saloon with live music.
Some traveling medical staff that have stayed here, enjoyed the idea that they could commute by foot if they wanted. Even those attending classes or workshops at the ASIS Massage School could easily walk the 1 mile.

Cottonwood's ONLY downtown 'OLD TOWN' is small and quaint and yet has a beauty all her own. Still a best kept secret, away from the big city hustle bustle, Cottonwood is central to most places in Arizona and is the heart of the Verde Valley. Just 1½ hours north of Phoenix, the Cottonwood's high desert area (varies from about 3300 -3900 in elevation) with milder desert weather. Short day trips include 1 hr. to Prescott, 1 hr. south of Flagstaff, 2 hrs. south of the Grand Canyon.
